Chettinad Chicken Curry


Ingredients:
  1. Chicken - 1kg 
  2. Grated coconut - 1/2 
  3. Coriander seeds - 1 tsp 
  4. Cumin seeds - 1/2 tsp 
  5. Kashmiri red chillies - 6-8 
  6. Cloves - 2 no 
  7. Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp 
  8. Onion, large - 1 
  9. Ginger Garlic paste - 2 tsp 
  10. Red chili powder - 1 tsp 
  11. Tomatoes, medium - 2 
  12. Lemon - 1 
  13. Bay leaves - 1-2 
  14. Curry leaves - Few 
  15. Oil - 1/2 cup 
  16. Salt 

Procedure:

Clean the chicken and chop to small-medium pieces. Marinate the Chicken with Salt, Chilly powder and ginger garlic paste. Chop the onions and tomatoes separately. Roast the whole red chilies, grated coconut, coriander seeds,cumin seeds, cloves, cinnamon, in oil and grind to a paste. Heat oil in a vessel and fry the onions, then add bay leaves and the ground paste and sauté for some time.Add the tomatoes, red chili powder and turmeric powder and sauté. Add the chicken, mix and cook for few mins then add 2 cups of water. Cover and cook till the chicken is done. Finally squeeze the lime and season with curry leaves and red chilies. Goes well with Rotis, Rice and Dosa.
